Manchester United bans tablets

Posted on August 14, 2014 by admin in Uncategorized
In a move rarely seen before in the sports arena, English football club Manchester United has decided to ban fans from bringing iPads and other tablet devices into Old Trafford.

The move is believed to have been made in order to stop supporters recording long videos of live matches.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the club sent an e-mail to Reds’ fans before the friendly game between Manchester United and Valencia on Tuesday (12 August), banning electronic devices larger than 150mmx100mm inside the stadium.

“We want to make you aware of an update to our club policy regarding home matches. Supporters cannot bring large electronic devices (bigger than 150mmx100mm) inside the stadium. Also please be aware that large bags, large cameras and liquids (with the exception of a small bottle of water with the top removed) are included in our list of prohibited items,” said a part of the e-mail transcribed in the newspaper.

The pre-season match against Valencia, which was Louis Van Gaal’s first match at Old Trafford, was also broadcast through the club’s own network MUTV.

The same move has been seen before in New York, where the Yankees banned tablets from the stadium in 2010, although the club allowed them again two years later due to fans’ protests.
